Author Report: Earth Day NYC

Earth Day NYC was very fun! My hubby and I managed to pack everything we needed into his veggie oil-powered VW Beetle. ( Yes, you can really do this! )
All our stuff had to be sniffed by a bomb-sniffing dog before we were allowed into Grand Central Station. That was a little weird, but the dog looked like he was having a lot of fun doing his job!
After we set up, we walked around a little to see what else was there. We discovered this awesome Yerbe Mate’ tea It kept us energized over the two long days of standing on our feet and talking about Gaia Girls!

I met a lot of neat people. The booth across from ours was an artist named Michael Albert. He makes cool visual art from cereal boxes! There was a musical act called Constant Wonder The kids looked like they were having fun with their music. They sing about nature and all the wonderful things you find in it. Their website is pretty fun, so visit it and play around!

There was a boy from Mexico who bought Gaia Girls because he has to read one English book a month. There was a French family and the one person who spoke English translated to them what Gaia Girls was about. The girl in the family was really sad she couldn’t read it and told me we had to have it published in French! A little boy hugged my Gaia otter puppet and next thing I knew, he walked right off with her! By the way, if you like my Gaia-otter you can get one just like her at Folkmanis

I had a copy of 50 Ways to Save the Ocean signed by the author. I think it will help me with writing Gaia Girls-Way of Water!

I think the weather was nice when we were there. It was hard to tell because we were inside all the time. Next time I do an event in NYC, I will have to make sure to leave some time to walk around and enjoy the city. Be sure to click on the pictures below to see a little bit of what I saw!
