Air Apparent Sneak Peak Party
The Gaia Girls Sneak Peak Party, hosted by Cornell’s Lab of Ornithology , was a great success! Both Illustrators were there to sign books and talk about their work, Bird-on-a-Wire entertained us with their wonderful music, organic snacks were enjoyed and I got to give my first public reading from Gaia Girls Air Apparent!
GG-AA is still very much in rough draft form, but it was a lot of fun to introduce readers to the new character, Lucha, and the setting in which the story takes place, Peru. I also got to demonstrate how the Macaulay Library has been helping me out with the story. Fans got to hear sounds from the first two books (American Robin, Whale “pings” and Pacific White-Sided Dolphins) as well as be introduced to some new sounds–The Screaming Piha, Curossow, and Muscian Wren.
I know as I signed books, many of the kids participated in an activity with Earth Arts and then took their learning out into Sapsucker Woods. I’m not sure what the activity was, but there sure were some happy, rosey-cheeked faces when they came tromping back in!
My pictures did not turn out so well.
However, there was a professional photographer there and as soon as I get copies, I will post them up here. Meanwhile, you can watch the News 10 Now coverage of the event!
