Mission #4

I went to hang laundry and was inspired to send you on a Gaia Mission involving spiders! Their webs are incredible creations. A web is made of silk that is strong, yet flexible. Mankind has yet to create a fiber as strong (in relation to its weight) as a spider’s web! Please don’t touch the spiders or their webs; just observe and record.Be sure to download the Mission Log for your directions. Click the word, “More” below to watch the video of my mission-inspiring trip to the clothesline!

ha I can’t stand spiders but the webs are cool! A while ago I watched a spider make one on the outside of my window. It was cool, but the spider was little (and lime green!) so it was kind of hard to tell. The web was huge though!

Oh and also at a soccer game I was at it was morning and there was a lot of dew and every few feet there was a mini spider web in the grass! there was hundreds! It was so weird. I felt bad though because we had to play on that field so we destroyed a lot of the webs…That’s also the same day we found a baby bird that fell and was in the bushes! He was cute but scared so I picked him up and put him on a branch near a nest i figured he was from.

WOW! You felt the quake! You should tell us all what it was like! Some of the Gaia Gang may never feel an earthquake. Did it feel rolling or jolting where you were? I lived in So. Cal (Redondo Beach) during the Northridge quake. I was taking a shower when it happened!

I wish there were earth quakes where I live! there has only been one or two, and not in my lifetime! My teacher was in California during the Northridge quake. She was in her collage lounge I think it was and was sitting on the couch with her friend and the couch bounced all the way to the wall and hit the TV!

i was thinking about how it would be cool if you did a book signing in Maryland, so I started looking at all the blog entries back from 2006 to see if you already had and sure enough you were at the baltimore aquarium! I was so bummed I yelled NOOOOO and my mom came up to see what was wrong! Shoot, I wish I had come to that! It was even at that massive borders. (Yeah, that thing IS massive!)

Hi 5storys and gaiawater_1234 Every new blogger has to have their fist post approved before it shows up. When you post next, it will show up right away. How goes the web-hunting? Has anyone found odd shaped webs yet? Don’t forget, your mission reporting post needs to be up by Saturday morning so I can pick a Gaia Girl or Gaia Guy of the week! :)

    Hey Gaia Friends!
Since this week’s mission is on webs, I’ll explain where I’ve seen a few this week. (1)Between our arborvitae trees was a huge spider web (and I almost walked through it!) A small orangeish spider was hanging out in the center and I was rather fasinated from the big web. (2) Also, on our porch, there was another big web. In fact, I could name tons and tons and tons of webs I’ve seen lately. In our garage or when we’re walking and happen to see a web on a bush. Spider webs are cool, but to me, the spider dwelling in it is a bit annoying!
