Great Backyard Bird Count

backyardbirdcount.pngOrnithologists (bird researchers) need YOUR help! Every year the Great Backyard Bird Count takes place over a four day period. People (that includes kids!) across the country take time to count the birds they see in their own backyard. You can do this in as little as 15-minutes per day.

Print out a tally sheet and when you are done, enter your data online. It’s that easy! You can even print yourself a certificate when you’re done!

Ask your friends and relatives to help count. If your teacher wants the whole class to do it, there is an educator’s page of information. The more people counting, the more information the ornithologist have. Explore the website…there is a lot of info to help you identify the birds. Have fun!
