Via this super slow-motion technology, it is easy to see how creatures such as sea lions (and dolphins and humans) can ride the energy of a wave coming to shore!
I love to body surf and that is why I talk about it in Gaia Girls Way of Water! Have you ever ridden the waves?

Wow! Wow! Wow! These are the times I ADORE modern technology! Watch the hummingbird via a super-slow motion camera and see how hummingbirds do it. I know how to tread water, but these little guys have developed to tread air! (Hmmm, air-girl power?)

I do. And I love the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee! It is an amazing place were elephants from all kinds of backgrounds can live out their years not only receiving excellent care, but also roaming free, making friends with other elephants and (via the wonders of videoconferencing) being ambassadors for elephants around the world.
The photo [...]

Ishmael: An Adventure of the Mind and Spirit by Daniel Quinn
My review
rating: 5 of 5 stars
This book may shake your foundations. You will walk away with your mind churning and your heart yearning. I’m impressed that Mr. Quinn could create such a compelling novel that is, for the most part, dialog. This book [...]

Idlewild by Nick Sagan
My review
rating: 4 of 5 stars
My biggest compliment to “series” books? I want to read the next one! I enjoyed Nick Sagan’s take on virtual reality and got surprisingly interested in the characters as individuals. Nicely done!

This video blew me away! (Remember, I’m writing the Air-girl right now!) Question: Why do you think the peregrine falcon’s name is, “Frightful?” Hint: It’s from one of my favorite books!

I love May Day! I remember when I was little, we would pick daffodils and tulips, grape hyacinth from the garden and/or dandelions and violets from the yard and make little bouquets of flowers. My sister and I would have to sneak across an open field, over the bridge and through my Grandma Welles’ yard [...]
