MAY DAY!
I love May Day! I remember when I was little, we would pick daffodils and tulips, grape hyacinth from the garden and/or dandelions and violets from the yard and make little bouquets of flowers. My sister and I would have to sneak across an open field, over the bridge and through my Grandma Welles’ yard to place the bouquets on her porch. We would knock on the door and run! I’m sure she must have seen us coming.
The history of May Day is pretty interesting. The Celts believed the year started at the end of October with Samhain. They would bring their cattle and livestock down out of the hills and into the barns for the winter. May 1st is caled, Beltane. It is officially halfway through the year and, after a great party of course, they let the livestock out and up into the green hills for the summer! That’s how I’ve been feeling this spring. Like a cooped up animal that can finally go outside and play.
I’m going to sneak some flowers to my momma today. Who will you sneak flowers to?

I also love spring…..except for the fact that I have herendous alergies, I start coughing and almost can not stop…even on medicine…i’m alergic to practicly every tree and grass during the spring, thank God that I am not allergic to any animals!

I take a tablespoon of local spring honey (local bees use local pollens)once or twice a day. Not only is it quite yummy, it seems to keep my immune system from going bonkers over all the bloomin’.
Allergies are a real bummer!
