Morning Run-Mystery Bird

A very humid morning for running! I jogged through Dennison Park, up the hill behind Sevren Elementary School, across Corning’s Southside hill, down Pine Street, through Centerway Square, along the Chemung River and home via Market Street. The highlight of my 43 minutes was actually seeing my “mystery bird!”

All summer I’ve been hearing this very loud, metalic-sounding whistle. However, I haven’t been able to spy the bird making it. Today, I saw him! It was foggy, so I did’t get a clear look. He was pretty big, a little bigger than a blue jay. He had white bars on his back. I’m not sure if he was gray, or brown, or even blue. Any ideas? I’m going to search the internet and let you know if I find out what the

That reminds me of the time we were in New Zealand…. there were SO MANY weird bird sounds, I don’t think I could have identified 1/5 of them if I tried! Oh, and the new blog design is totally fabulous! Very Gaia.

I just noticed the new blog design! I almost couldn’t find where to log in! A month ago we were hearing this noise for about a week that we thought was either a cat or a bird. In a few days we learned from our neighbors that it was a fawn (baby deer) hiding in the woods after its mother got hit bye a car. The funny thing was, that they called these people to help them find it and bring it to a sanctuary and they were all large men, and it wouldn’t come out, but when my neighbors wife went to look for it, it came out for her! It is fine now, and safe :D
