Dusk at 9am

I’ve been sitting at my desk for about an hour. First I squinted, then I flipped on the desklamp. Didn’t want to accidently spill my morning coffee across the papers, important and not, that cover my desk.
When the rain came, my office filled with a patient, steady hum. I’ve listened to rain from my desk many times. Each storm, each shower and downpour, each spritzing and misting, dripping and dropping has its style. The tone and textures vary. The rhythm and rhyme are unique to each.
I think it is a worthy distraction. A fine time to snap off the monitor, click off the lamp and remember just how far back this office chair will recline. What a fine way to begin a day, with dusk at 9am.
So the day will brighten and warm. My work will get done eventually…always does. My hubby and I are turning off our cable. I doubt I’ll miss it much.
